Commiseration to our Open Boys basketball team who lost out to Manurewa High School in their Regional semi-finals on Friday. It’s been a fantastic season and I am sure coach Pat is already putting plans in place for next year. I cannot thank this group enough for all their hard work during the basketball season. Exciting times ahead.
Great footy played on Saturday in our backyard with 7 games scheduled for the day. Unfortunately, Waitemata Black did not show up handing our strong DLS Marist Open weight team a win by default. Our 2nd XV rounded off a tough week playing 3 games in 7 days with a powerful performance over neighbours from across the train tracks, Kings College. At the same time, our other 2nd XV team, the Pelicans ran riot over visitors St Pauls College playing an up-tempo game with plenty of width. Credit to our visitors for never giving up regardless of the outcome. Our u15s both had very good wins over Massey and Dilworth College. Contrasting wins with our 15A team winning comfortably while our 15B team came from behind to seal the deal finishing strongly over Dilworth. Our u14’s battled bravely to the final whistle against top 2 team Mt Albert. Strong resistance from Mags as they defended their try line with plenty of courage to hold out our attack in a nail-biting finish to have the crowd from both sides in anticipation. Great result for the other u14’s team as they travelled all the way out to Tuakau making it 2 wins in a row. To conclude a great weekend of footy, our flagstaff team got on top of perennial powerhouse rugby school St Kentigern at their home ground. This is not an easy task so well done to our 1st XV.
Thank you to all the management of our teams for putting in the continued hard work for our boys to get onto the paddock. Malo also to all parents and supporters for coming through.
