Saturday 1 August we were privileged enough to have the deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand, Winston Peters #talanoa with us in the College staffroom.
Coming from a perspective of a student looking to pursue a career in law and/or possibly politics, this was a huge experience and opportunity for me, being able to gain knowledge and wisdom from a Poly/Maori politician himself.
Today was a great experience where the debate team were able to ask the deputy Prime Minister questions about social issues that are important to us and questions that concerned him and his position as the deputy leader of this country. Being able to converse with such a leader was a buzzing experience and was a real insightful moment.
Thank you deputy Prime Minster for giving up your time to come talk to the usos at the Ave. Thanks Mr Wendt for organizing this opportunity!- Jarren Iuvale, Year 11
