#dlssport Weekend Rugby Results
Kia Orana! A busy first week back to school with a grand final for our Premier Basketball Open team on Wednesday evening 28/7/21 against experienced campaigners Manurewa High School and a quarter final showing for our mighty underdog football team against Rosehill College. Although both teams fell short results wise, they should be very proud to have achieved these heights. The Basketball team is now looking towards the Auckland Regional Championship which is a massive achievement for this program while our Football is already planning how to improve for next season.
The League team is preparing for Nationals which is not too far away after their success prior to the conclusion of Term 2. The team will be super excited to see how they stack up against some of the best teams in the country. We’re all excited too.
Our flagstaff rugby team went down to title favourites Kelston Boys High on Saturday. They battled bravely as they have all season, but a classy Kelston team got the W in the end. On a positive note we still have a few more games to finish. There were some very exciting games on our home turf with our 15A taking out Auckland Grammar. Kudos to this group as they have had some losses but kept working hard throughout the season. Likewise, with our 15B who outclassed a tough, no nonsense Manurewa team who played fierce until the final whistle. The 14A went back and forth against Westlake Boys with Westlake edging out our team. Result could have easily gone either way but that’s footy. Good win for our 2nd XV Pelicans away to neighbours Otahuhu College 2XV which is no easy feat while our 14B who also played at Otahuhu went down in a nail-biter.
Great work everyone! Keep up the great work #FTGF
